Having good records:

Can help you improve your herd or even just sell rabbits quicker. Show rabbits have a tattoo in their left ear, this helps the breeder identify the rabbit, and keep good records on it. This helps you know which rabbit is which because when you have a lot of rabbits it is hard to know which is which because they all look the same sometimes. Having a good pedigree on each rabbit in your operation helps you sell stock quicker and for more money, this helps you know your rabbits heritage, a good pedigree should have all names and ear numbers. Carry all weights, and name the variety of each rabbit, a good pedigree should give you a visual of the stock it will produce. Having breeding records is important, a breeding record should be for every rabbit in your operation. Each record should list the Does or Bucks the rabbit was breed to, the day bred, birth date of the kits, and survival of kits. This helps you find which rabbits are productive or which are not. Each rabbit needs a medical record, including the medication given, treatment start and end date, and name of the person who gave the medication. This helps you deworm your rabbits up to date. And lets you find which rabbits are the healthiest. And then each Doe needs a litter growth record, listing the birth date of the kits, how many kits there are and the avarage weight of the kits at 3 and 8 weeks. This helps select herd replacements and gives you a good visual on the Does reproduction.
